Company Hierarchy & Department Structure

Updated yesterday

SupportFinity allows you to build your full company hierarchy inside the platform β€” including departments and multi-layer sub-departments β€” using a simple tree view structure.

This ensures your hiring process reflects how your organization is actually structured.

Why Set Up a Department Hierarchy?

A clear department structure helps you:

  • Organize jobs accurately

  • Improve reporting by department

  • Reflect your real company structure

  • Provide clarity to applicants

  • Scale your hiring operations cleanly

Whether you have 3 departments or 30, SupportFinity keeps everything structured.

How to Create Departments

Setting up your hierarchy is simple:

  1. Go to Settings

  2. Select Departments

  3. Click Add New Department

  4. Enter the department name

  5. To create a sub-department, select the parent department and add a new one under it

You can create multiple layers of departments inside each other.

All departments are displayed in a tree view, making it easy to visualize your organizational structure.

Example:

  • Engineering

    • Backend

    • Frontend

    • DevOps

  • Sales

    • Enterprise

    • SMB

  • Marketing

    • Growth

    • Content

There is no strict limitation on layers β€” you can structure it according to your company needs.

Selecting a Department When Creating a Job

When opening a new job:

  • Simply select the department that is hiring

  • That department will be associated with the job

This department name will then appear:

  • In your internal reporting

  • On your job board

  • On your careers page

Applicants will clearly see which department they are applying to.

Why This Matters

A structured hierarchy creates:

  • Cleaner analytics by department

  • Better visibility into hiring activity

  • More professional job postings

  • Clear communication to candidates

  • Easier scaling as your company grows

SupportFinity is designed to mirror your real organizational structure β€” not force you into a simplified one.
