Using Tags to Organize Candidates During the Hiring Process

Updated this week

Tags help you quickly identify and group candidates based on shared traits, feedback, or information gathered during the recruitment process.

They are a simple way to add internal context and make collaboration easier within your hiring team.

What Are Tags?

Tags are internal labels you can assign to candidates while a job is active.

You can use tags to:

  • Highlight specific skills or attributes

  • Mark candidates for follow-up

  • Indicate internal feedback (e.g., “Strong Culture Fit”)

  • Group candidates by category (e.g., “Referral”, “Needs Assessment”, “Senior-Level”)

Tags are:

  • Visible only to you and the recruitment team working on that job

  • Limited to the active recruitment process

  • Automatically removed from the candidate profile once the job ends

This ensures tags remain relevant to the specific hiring process.

How to Assign a Tag to a Candidate

Follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Job Dashboard that contains the candidate

  2. Locate the candidate in the pipeline

  3. Click the Add Tag button (next to the candidate’s name)

  4. Enter the tag name you want to use

The tag will immediately appear next to the candidate’s profile within that job.

How to Remove a Tag

To unassign a tag:

  • Click the “X” icon on the tag next to the candidate’s name

The tag will be removed instantly.

Reusing Tags

For convenience, SupportFinity displays previously used tags so you can easily reuse them without retyping. This helps maintain consistency across your hiring process.

Best Practice

Use tags to add quick, structured context that helps your team:

  • Move faster

  • Stay aligned

  • Identify groups of candidates efficiently

Tags are designed to support collaboration and organization while keeping your recruitment process clean and focused.
