How SupportFinity Detects Fraudulent and Fake Profiles
SupportFinity includes built-in Fraudulent and Fake Profile Detection to help recruiting teams identify applicants who may require additional review.
The feature automatically analyzes multiple signals across applicant profiles and uses AI to evaluate the likelihood that a profile may be fraudulent, misleading, or artificially created.
This helps recruiters focus their attention on potentially risky profiles without having to manually investigate every applicant.
How Fake Profile Detection Works
SupportFinity automatically evaluates a number of risk signals for each applicant.
These signals can include:
Location consistency: Checks whether the applicant’s stated location is consistent with available technical and profile information.
VPN or proxy usage: Identifies signals that may indicate the applicant is accessing the application through a VPN, proxy, or similar service.
Temporary or disposable email addresses: Detects email addresses associated with disposable or temporary email services.
LinkedIn profile age: Evaluates signals related to how established the applicant’s LinkedIn profile appears to be.
Additional profile and behavioral signals: SupportFinity may analyze other available indicators that could suggest unusual or potentially fraudulent activity.
SupportFinity’s AI combines these signals to calculate an overall risk assessment for the profile.
Fraud Risk Levels
When SupportFinity identifies meaningful risk signals, the applicant may be marked with one of two risk levels:
High Risk
The profile contains stronger or multiple indicators that suggest the applicant should be reviewed carefully.
Medium Risk
The profile contains one or more signals that may require additional verification, but the available information is not strong enough to classify it as high risk.
The risk level is designed to help recruiters prioritize further review. It should not be treated as definitive proof that an applicant is fraudulent.
Automatic Fake Profile Detection
By default, SupportFinity can automatically run the fake profile check on applicants and surface the risk assessment directly inside the ATS.
This allows recruiting teams to identify potentially suspicious profiles as part of their normal applicant review process.
How to Turn Off Automatic Fake Profile Detection
If you do not want SupportFinity to automatically run fraud checks on every applicant, you can disable the feature from your company settings.
Go to:
Company Settings → Fake Profiles
From there, switch off automatic fake profile detection.
How to Run a Fake Profile Check Manually
Even if automatic detection is turned off, you can still run the check manually whenever needed.
From your ATS dashboard:
Open the applicant profile you want to review.
Select the option to run the Fake Profile Check.
SupportFinity will analyze the available signals.
The AI-generated risk assessment will appear on the applicant profile.
This gives your team the flexibility to run checks only on selected applicants when additional verification is needed.
What Should You Do with a High- or Medium-Risk Profile?
A risk flag should be treated as an additional hiring signal, not an automatic reason to reject a candidate.
If a profile is marked as Medium or High Risk, you may want to review the underlying signals, verify the applicant’s information, confirm identity or employment history where appropriate, and continue your normal hiring and interview process before making a decision.
The goal of the feature is to help recruiting teams identify profiles that deserve closer attention while keeping the final hiring decision with the recruiting team.
